Several years ago, during a trip to drop off our senior pup at a new groomer, in a new city and a new state, we discovered the most delightful shops in a nearly magical small town that had the appeal of a hobbit village. With it’s cottage style houses, and lined with large bay-windowed shops that revealed the likes of books, sugar and jam pastries, homemade ice cream, deliciously seasoned foods, hand-made goods, etc., the air seemed filled with the slow paced, welcoming sense of comfort and whimsy that is not often found in a bustling world. A place where you remember to enjoy the crunching of freshly fallen autumn leaves under your feet, in their shades of burgundy, gold and umber, and sip your warm drink, slowly and thoughtfully.
In this town, there was a multi-level shop with the most fantastic window of all, that could transport your imagination to times past, with the most cleverly displayed co-op of antique and vintage items, homemade candles and cards, vinyl records, and a darling bakery to one side. Wait, make that two such shops, but we’ll focus on the first of those two shops, nestled next to a windmill and duck pond.
In this shop, it was the ever-changing displays of time-worn pieces that invited me back, time and time, again. Each display capturing the joy of the season to showcase ornate furniture with turned legs or velvet upholstery, salvaged mantels and shutters, pane glass doors and windows, dishes with crackling glaze or florals on china, handmade jewelry and hundred year old clothing, artwork, toys and kitsch that had become completely unique due to their wear and tear from a life well spent serving families for sometimes over one hundred years. Each piece had it’s history and story to tell, and I was smitten.
That shop was my inspiration.
If you are looking for unique vintage or antique items, please take a look as I add new pieces for sale. Some items may be gently used modern pieces, and will be labeled as such. From time to time, handmade crochet, beaded crafts and fairy houses may be available for purchase.
Important Shipping and Pick-up information:
Please note, ALL large and heavy furniture listed for sale, such as antique mantels, doors, cabinets, chairs, tables, etc. are currently for pick-up only in Pittsburgh, Pa. Pick-up can be scheduled after payment, and should be within our store hours of Tuesday - Saturday, between 12noon and 5pm. Some exceptions can be made if another time works better for you, but must be approved in advance.
Some of these items can be over 100lbs, and may require you to bring a truck or trailer and helper to lift.
Please refer to shipping information given for individual items. Some small items that are able to be boxed for shipping should clearly state that they are for shipping. A flat rate may be listed, if possible, but for other items, I may need to calculate specific costs for you, based on box size and your location. Please send a message if you have questions.
